November 8th, 2007 by Daniel Gattermann at 21:10h (CET)

I’m watching Sigur Rós’ Heima right now — a documentary film about their free 2006 Iceland tour. It is a great DVD for everybody who likes Sigur Rós or Iceland.
Last year, in the endless magic hour of the Icelandic summer, Sigur Rós played a series of concerts around their homeland. Combining both the biggest and [...]

A Scanner Darkly

October 16th, 2007 by Daniel Gattermann at 22:20h (CEST)

A Scanner Darkly — the movie adaption of Philip K. Dick’s great novel.
What does a scanner see? I mean, really see? Into the head? Down into the heart? Does a passive infrared scanner … see into me — into us — clearly or darkly? (Bob Arctor, A Scanner Darkly)

Visiting Iceland this summer was wonderful. Seeing the impressive landscape lets you understand the origins of Sigur Rós’s music. Listening to their music while driving on Icelandic roads is just perfect.

Start your favorite telnet client and connect to towel.blinkenlights.nl (use Apple’s Terminal.app, Microsoft’s cmd.exe and Linux [...]

Apple in 1984

April 17th, 2006 by Daniel Gattermann at 21:46h (CEST)

Apple likes to think different. And so they did in 1984 while introducing the Macintosh.
Apple not only hired Ridley Scott after he finished filming “Blade Runner” to produce the famous 1984 commercial but Apple also bought the whole 39 pages of Newsweek’s advertisement space in late 1984 to introduce the Macintosh.
A funny thing happens [...]

September 3rd, 2005 by Daniel Gattermann at 15:41h (CEST)
